Kasenge Riverford Organic Center (KROC) is a Community Based Organization that started in 1992 as a conventional farm growing chilies, banana, vegetables and fruits for export. The course of this center was changed to today’s organic and demonstration center in 1999 following the sponsorship package offered to the managing director to study a course in sustainable organic agriculture in United Kingdom at the University of Reading in 1998.
When he returned in 1999, he changed the farm into a training and demonstration organic center using the knowledge, skills and experience he gained during the course of study. In 1999, he applied for the certification of the center and in 2001 the center was certified through African Organics. From 2001, the demonstration farm was turned into a rural training center for integrated sustainable organic agriculture.
